All of our teachers have studied dance at the highest full time levels in their fields and have extensive experience working in the industry and teaching.  

All teachers have attained their Working with Children checks.

TDA teachers are very open to working in conjunction with students and parents to individualise the service we provide.  To improve communication techniques between teachers, parents and students we now administrate via email and have a new Facebook page.

Cassie O'Sullivan 

Academy Director - C.S.T.D Theatrical Dip. C.S.T.D Tap Dip.

Cassie has been training in dance since the age of 5 at Parkwood Dance Academy. During this time she studied many styles of dance and undertook examinations with the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance and the Royal Academy of Dance. Cassie achieved the highest level of examinations in Classical, Jazz, Theatrical and Tap with the CSTD and also holds a teaching diploma in the Tap and Theatrical syllabus.

Upon leaving school Cassie completed a one year full time course at the Dance Factory. As a dancer she has performed in fashion and hair shows around Melbourne and was a back up dancer for a cover band. Her teaching experience includes over 20 years at Parkwood Dance Academy and several other dance schools around Melbourne including Dance Factory and Gay Wightman School of Ballet. Cassie also holds a Level 2 First Aid Certificate.

At Templestowe Dance Academy, Cassie hopes to create a warm, friendly and nurturing environment where children, teenagers and adults feel comfortable being themselves. A place where self-confidence and respect are held in esteem and a place where students will grow and achieve.


Ely Carroll

B.A (Musical Theatre).  C.S.T.D Theatrical Cert.

Ely has been dancing for over 20 years and in 2012 completed a Bachelor of Arts (Musical Theatre) with a major in Dance and Drama at the University of Ballarat Arts Academy, where she studied all forms of dance as well as singing and acting. She has been teaching dance for over 10 years in the styles of Tap, Jazz, Ballet and Performing Arts and completed her CSTD Theatrical Teaching Certificate in 2008. Ely has completed all the CSTD Jazz and Tap exams including the Senior performance exams. 

Dancing and teaching are her passions and she is very excited to be able to combine both of these at Templestowe Dance Academy.


Lauren Carinci

Lauren is a passionate dance student and has been associated with the dance school for 18 years.  During this time, she has trained in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary and Hip Hop and has recently completed all CSTD Jazz dance exams. 

After years of training as both assistant and dance teacher to students at various levels across the dance school, Lauren is extremely happy to be teaching dance again.


Kylie Digby

C.S.T.D Tap Dip.

Kylie Digby has been involved in the dance industry for the past 29 years. She began as a tiny 4 year old and throughout the years has completed exams and performed in many concerts and conventions. She has gained major examination standards in all forms of  dance and in the later years specialising in Tap.

In 2006, Kylie gained her CSTD Tap Diploma and prides herself in gaining the best results from her  students in both exams and performance.
Kylie also volunteers her time with community based theatre companies and has been involved in the choreography of many shows.


Joanna King

Joanna has been training in dance for the past 23 years. During this time she has successfully completed all Cecchetti Ballet exams, CSTD Jazz exams and is currently working to complete all CSTD Tap exams. 

Over the past 8 years Joanna has taught a variety of different dance styles including Ballet, Tap and Jazz to varying levels of age and ability. Joanna is extremely happy to be teaching at TDA again in 2017.


Olivia Carinci

Olivia has been dancing for 18 years and has trained in a number of dance styles, specialising in Tap, Jazz and Contemporary. She is currently completing examinations with The Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance in both Tap and Jazz syllabuses. As a dancer, Olivia is dedicated and enthusiastic and is always eager to learn new styles, expand her range and improve her technique.

After many years of training as an assistant dance teacher at Templestowe Dance Academy, Olivia began teaching in 2015 and is looking forward to continuing her work with the TDA students.


Shannon Turner

Miss Shannon Turner has been dancing since the age of seven and has never looked back!

Starting at her local dance school, she followed her love for dancing and performing and went on to grow that into a career. Miss Shannon has completed two years Dancing, Musical Theatre and Performing Arts full time training at Robert Sturrock's Industry Dance in Brunswick, where she specialised in contemporary, musical theatre and Ballet.

Miss Shannon since then has become a professional dancer, working with various choreographers and companies, performing throughout Melbourne. Getting to share the stage with the likes of Rhonda Burchmore and Jessica Mauboy. In 2016 she also had the opportunity to travel to India to perform. She is currently dancing as a professional cheerleader for Melbourne United Basketball. 

Miss Shannon's aim through her teaching is to foster the love of dance and performance which inspired her as a young child to pursue the career she is fulfilling now. 


Shaylin Durban

 Dancing since the age of 3, Shaylin has trained in various styles including ballet (RAD), contemporary, jazz, tap, musical theatre and hip hop with her main passion found in ballet & contemporary. Throughout the years, Shaylin has completed all RAD examinations and has experienced training in various schools across Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane.

Shaylin is a founding member of Melbourne based contemporary company, SCIMM Dance Company where she is involved as a performer for the senior cast as well as a guest teacher & mentor for the youth company.

Miss Shaylin has always had a passion for teaching to pass on her own knowledge and experience to the students, hoping to inspire them to be the best they can be.


Ashleigh Redmond

Ashleigh is a passionate, energetic and dedicated dancer with the ability to adapt to any genre or choreography. Ashleigh teaches hip hop and loves to engage with students of all ages. She has recently been involved teaching/choreographing end of year performances for Indigenous kids at a Kindergarten in Thomastown.

Ashleigh has trained for years at the best dance schools in Melbourne, and competed in Championship Calisthenics since the age of 3. She dances many different styles in stage, corporate and community events. Currently as a performer she dances at Copacabana Theatre Restaurant, does children based gigs for "The Entertainment Store" and has been a back up dancer for various film clips, including Australian artist Farren Jones. Ashleigh is a qualified emergency nurse and has a WWCC


Paula Lombardo

Paula's credentials include a BA and a Diploma in Dance Teaching and Management. A passion for dance and a love of inspiring young dancers led to a fulfilling dance teaching career, including a decade at the Victorian Ballet School, Principal of The Ballet Centre, Director of the Primary Dance Program, senior teacher Balwyn YMCA, Programming Co-ordinator for Camp Australia as well as examining and stage managing as a registered dance teacher with VIT and MDEC. With 21 years teaching experience, Paula is currently enjoying a lighter teaching load as she brings up her two beautiful children.


Jo-Anne Walters

Jo-Anne is a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance and has over 17 years of experience teaching in contemporary, neo-classical, pointe, ballet and R.A.D examinations in both graded and vocational. She has successfully completed a Diploma in Arts – Classical Dance at National Theater Ballet School and continued on to perform professionally as a freelance dancer.

Jo-Anne is passionate about passing on the love for dance to the next generation. Teaching the students artistry and an appreciation of how their bodies move and work through a nurturing and positive learning environment.


Sera Schuller


Sera started dancing at the age of 5 at Suncoast City Performance Arts Centre in Queensland. She trained in all genres and participated in eisteddfods and exams for Ballet, Jazz and Tap. At the age of 15 Sera wanted to pursue a career in Classical ballet and travelled to Switzerland to participate in the Prix de Lausanne (world renowned ballet competition). Continuing her classical training in Australia, Sera was accepted into Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada in 2014. After spending 2 years training in Canada, she moved back to Australia to join the Victorian State Ballet for their 2017 season. Sera looks forward to sharing her knowledge and experiences with the young dancers at Templestowe Dance Academy.


Emily Malone

Emily trained in RAD ballet at Saill Academy of Dance before moving to Perth to train as a contemporary dancer at WAAPA. After receiving her BA in dance, Emily spent a year with LINK Dance Company while completing her honours. As a performer, Emily has worked with choreographers such as Leigh Warren, Natalie Allen, Xiaoxiong Zhang and Michael Whaites. Emily has performed in China and across Europe, as well as throughout Australia. In 2015, Emily moved to Melbourne to dance with Creative Behaviours Dance Collective and is thrilled to be teaching at Templestowe Dance Academy. Emily is passionate about movement for joy and wellbeing and hopes to pass this on to her students.


Demi Sorono


Hailing proudly from the Philippines Demi Sorono is a leader in street dance in Australia. Demi achieved national fame as one of Australia’s 4 top dancers (So You Think You Can Dance 2008) with no formal dance training to speak of. Demi has gone on to perform around Australia in every setting from rural Aboriginal communities to corporate city events. She has facilitated numerous inspiring and engaging workshops utilising her key skills in break dance and hip hop choreography. Demi is fluent in Auslan and has been exploring the combination of hip hop and sign language in a number of projects including her work with young people in MASSIVE Australia’s 1st hip hop choir.

She has toured New Caledonia (Nov 2012) performing her solo piece and duet with Gerard Veltre for PHUNKTIONAL Ltd. Demi worked a 9-month project working for Arts Centre Melbourne and Barkly Arts Centre as a choreographer/director/mentor/teacher for the eMotion project. The eMotion project was a series of outreach hip-hop workshops for youth out in Western suburbs of Melbourne from Footscray to Melton and Ballarat. Demi choreographed a Flashmob of 150 kids to perform for the opening of Hamer Hall in July 2012. Online media was utilised, as a tool teach the young kids involved as well as teaching them at their community halls and studios.

Another highlight was being part of the Multicultural Arts Victoria “Couch World for Human Rights” in December 2012. Three days of performing - ‘Revolutionary B-girl’ at Signal. This was working with a visual Artist Aleks Mothra and creating a piece that represented some of the most renowned female revolutionists from the past and present.

One of her other highlights was touring and performing with BLAZE, the international street dance sensation theatre show at the Sydney Opera House and at Hamer Hall in Melbourne 2013. Her most recent achievement was performing her 1 hour one woman show “A Touch of Grace - Shadow Warrior” at Melbourne’s Fringe Festival 2015


Bethany Girardi


Bethany Angelin has been dancing for 18 years and has been teaching since she was 12.

Bethany started her training at her local dance school Ballet Central in 2000, at the age of 4. She went on to train with the Victorian Ballet School in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Contemporary. In 2008 she moved to the Ballet Centre, continuing her training, and started assistant and emergency teaching for the company. In 2011 she went on to train with Melbourne Dance Theatre - School Of Excellence, and danced guest roles with the company (now the Victorian State Ballet). Bethany has trained under the Loral Martyn System of Dance, and has completed a Senior Level 2 training in the Vaganova method.

Bethany is actively involved with Musical Theatre in Victoria, in performance, choreography, and direction. Her theatre credits include: “Snow White and The Seven Dwarves” - Snow White, “The Producers” - Ensemble, “The Wedding Singer” - Angie/Dance Captain, and the Victorian Premiere of “9 to 5” - Maria

Bethany Is also in the process of completing a Bachelor of Arts/Masters of Secondary Teaching at Deakin University - With Majors in Dance and Drama.
